Man Gets Prison Time For Strangling Woman In Lake In The Hills Home: Prosecutors

The 31-year-old Lake in the Hills man has been sentenced to three years in prison.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — A 31-year-old Lake in the Hills man was sentenced to three years in prison for strangling a woman last year at his home.

Daniel Swiderski pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated domestic battery for his role in an attack on May 27, 2025, in Lake in the Hills, according to a news release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office. Just after midnight on that date, the Lake in the Hills Police Department was called to Swiderski's home for a reported domestic disturbance.

Officer attempted for more than an hour to make contact with the victims inside the home, and, after hearing a cry for help from a female inside the home, officers entered the residence, according to prosecutors.

Officers found a woman crying, bleeding from her face and being held by Swiderski in an upstairs bedroom. Officers learned Swiderski strangled the woman multiple times prior to police entering the home.

Swiderski was sentenced to the prison term in McHenry County Court and must serve 85% of his sentence. He will be placed on mandatory supervised release for four years after his release.
