Man Who Stole $4K Worth Of Booze Sentenced To Prison

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A Chicago man who stole $4,445 worth of liquor from an Algonquin grocery store has been sentenced to prison time.

Dmarco Hill, 31, pleaded guilty to burglary, a Class 2 felony, last week. McHenry County Judge Tiffany Davis ordered him to serve seven years in prison, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

On May 18, 2022, officers with the Algonquin Police Department as called to the Jewel-Osco on Randall Road for a report of a burglary. Officers met with loss prevention employees from Jewel-Osco, who informed officers that an unknown person was seen on surveillance video entering a back room to the business and breaking into a liquor cabinet, according to a news release.

The person filled a cart with merchandise, valued at $4,445.10, before leaving the grocery store.

Authorities were able to identify the man as Hill by using fingerprint evidence discovered on a bottle of liquor taken from the liquor cabinet and left at the scene, according to the news release.
