MCCD Hosts Candlelight Night Hike This Weekend

The hike will be this Friday and Saturday at Marengo Ridge Conservation Area in Marengo.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL – The McHenry County Conservation District will host a Candlelight Night Hike this weekend. The hike will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, December 14 and Saturday, December 15 at Marengo Ridge Conservation Area, 2411 N. IL Rt. 23 in Marengo. The hike is free and attendees can drop in at anytime.

"Get some fresh air, exercise, and enjoy the frosty night with hot chocolate and snacks around the campfire," according to a MCCD news release.

Additional candlelight hikes and cross-country ski events are scheduled for January 18 and 19 at Rush Creek, Harvard, and February 15 and 16 at Prairieview Education Center in Crystal Lake.

Enjoy Night Skiing/Hiking?

Did you know you can ski/hike every night until 9 p.m. on solar lit trails at Pleasant Valley Conservation Area in Woodstock, (1/2 mile loop through prairie) and at Hickory Grove Highlands in Cary (a 1 mile looped trail through the wooded savanna). Sites open late during daylight savings time change. After March 10, 2019 sites close at sunset.
