McHenry County Conservation District Hosts Candlelight Night Ski

Night ski will be available Friday, December 16 and Saturday, December 17 from 5–9 p.m.

From McHenry County Conservation District: Discover the beauty of cross-country skiing on trails lit by candlelight. McHenry County Conservation District will host a Candlelight Night Ski, Friday, December 16 and Saturday, December 17 from 5–9 p.m. at Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Rd., Crystal Lake.

Bring your own skis and test your skills along the 1 mile looped trail. Skiers of every level and age are invited. Drop in anytime for this free activity. Get some fresh air, exercise, and enjoy the frosty night with hot chocolate and snacks around the campfire.

Save the Date: Additional Candlelight Hikes/Cross Country Skis are scheduled for January 20 and 21 at Coral Woods in Marengo, and February 10 and 11 at Rush Creek in Harvard.

Enjoy Night Skiing/Hiking? Did you know you can ski/hike every night until 9 p.m. on solar lit trails at Pleasant Valley Conservation Area in Woodstock, (1/2 mile loop through prairie) and at Hickory Grove Highlands in Cary (a 1 mile looped trail through the wooded savanna). Sites open late during daylight savings time change. After March 12, 2017 sites close at sunset.
