The McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) has identified a COVID-19 outbreak at Eat at Syrup, 2555 Bunker Hill Road in Algonquin. The outbreak is under investigation, so it is unknown how many cases are linked to the business at this time.

The restaurant is fully cooperating with MCDH and has voluntarily closed.
Anyone who has worked at or visited the restaurant or is a close contact of someone who has worked at or visited this establishment between Nov. 1 and Nov. 12 and has any COVID-19 like symptoms, is encouraged to get tested.

A close contact is anyone who was within 6 feet of a person known to have COVID-19 for an accumulation of at least 15 minutes.
Symptoms of COVID-19 may include:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Individuals who experience trouble breathing, pain or pressure in the chest, confusion, inability to stay awake or bluish lips or face should seek immediate emergency medical care.
