JOSE I. AVILA SENTENCED TO SEVEN YEARS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR UNLAWFUL DELIVERY OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that on July 22, 2021, 25-year-old Jose I. Avila of Woodstock, Illinois, pled guilty to Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance, a class 1 Felony, before the Honorable Judge Robert Wilbrandt.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Department led an investigation into the defendant and found that the defendant delivered one gram or more, but less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine on May 2, 2019.   

Avila was sentenced to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, with a recommendation for the Impact Incarceration Program.

The investigation was led by Detective Fields of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department and was prosecuted by Judy Shammo of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
