PAUL BENZINGER SENTENCED TO 6.5 YEARS IN THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR UNLAWFUL DELIVERY OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that 33-year-old Paul S. Benzinger of Crystal Lake, Illinois, pled guilty to Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Class 1 felonies, before the Honorable Michael Coppedge on August 24, 2021.
On July 21, 2020, Benzinger sold approximately 1.2 grams of fentanyl to another individual. Members of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office then responded to Benzinger’s residence where they located an additional 8.5 grams of fentanyl.
The investigation was conducted by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force and was prosecuted by Brette Dunbar of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
