Patrick D. Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that on September 2, 2021, Robert Smith of Carpentersville, 37 years old, was sentenced to four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by the Honorable Judge Michael Coppedge after pleading guilty to Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a Class 1 Felony.
On January 18, 2020, officers of the Woodstock Police Department responded to a report of intoxicated driving shortly after 11:30 at night. Responding to the scene, Woodstock Police Officers located Smith in control of a snowplow truck displaying signs of heavy intoxication. The investigation ultimately revealed that Smith’s blood alcohol content was more than double the legal limit.

This case was investigated by members of the Woodstock Police Department. This case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorneys Tyler Mikan and Brette Dunbar.
