Medical Marijuana Dispensary Proposed for Algonquin

The dispensary, if approved and issued a state license, would be located on North Main Street.

How do you feel about a medical marijuana dispensary opening in Algonquin?

Algonquin’s planning and zoning commission at a meeting this past week approved a special-use permit for ILDISP III LLC for a free-standing building at 1154 N. Main Street where the company plans to sell medical marijuana, the Daily Herald reports.

The company plans to add an attached garage onto the building, which would be used for deliveries and waste removal, according to the newspaper. The Algonquin village board is expected to view the proposal at an upcoming meeting.

If approved, the company would then have to petition the state for a medical marijuana dispensary license this spring, according to the article. The state regulates how many licenses it hands and one license is currently available for a dispensary in McHenry County.
