More Than 100 Tickets Issued In July 4 Traffic Detail In Algonquin

The Algonquin Police Department also arrested six people for drunken driving as part of the traffic enforcement campaign.

ALGONQUIN, IL — The Algonquin Police Department handed out more than 100 tickets and made six arrests for driving under the influence during a recent Fourth of July enforcement campaign.

During the holiday details, authorities issued the following citations:

  • 34 seat belt tickets
  • 35 speeding tickets
  • one distracted driving citation
  • 4 traffic arrests
  • 26 "other" citations

Authorities also made four traffic arrests and three felony arrests.

Algonquin Police Department joined forces with more than 200 other state and local law
enforcement agencies as part of the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High Get a DUI” and “Click It or Ticket” safety campaigns.

The enforcement period was funded by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois
Department of Transportation.
