Motorcycle Driver Critically Injured In Algonquin Crash

The collision happened Sunday evening on Route 62 near Sandbloom Road. The 51-year-old Barrington man was airlifted to Condell, police said.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 51-year-old Barrington man was critically injured when his motorcycle collided on Route 62 in Algonquin Sunday afternoon.

Authorities say the motorcycle was headed west on Route 62 near Sandbloom Road at about 5:40 p.m. Sunday when it hit and bounced off a curb and began to fishtail, according to a news release from the Algonquin Police Department. The driver was never able to regain control of the bike and it ended up tipping over.

The 51-year-old Barrington man was thrown from the motorcycle, according to the news release.

The driver was transported to Northwestern Hospital in Huntley and then airlifted to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in critical condition.

Authorities closed the westbound lanes of Route 62 between Sandbloom Road and Longwood Drive for 1 hour and 45 minutes following the crash, according to authorities.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the Algonquin Police Department. Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the collision to contact the Algonquin Police Department at 847-658-4531.
