Murder Plot Foiled After Man With Knife Found Inside Home: Police
Police responded to a home in Huntley and found the 21-year-old man inside the Huntley residence, armed with a knife.
HUNTLEY, IL — A man was arrested after police say he entered a Huntley home and waited inside with a knife to confront the homeowner in an attempted murder plot.
Officers with the Huntley Police Department responded Friday evening for a request for assistance at a residence in the 13200 block of Sierra Glen Road. While conducting a follow-up investigation at the home, officers located a man hiding inside the residence, according to a news release from the Huntley Police Department.
Police identified the suspect as Juan A. Dela Cruz Lopez, 21, of Melrose Park. He was taken into custody without incident, and officers recovered a knife from him, police said.

According to investigators, Dela Cruz Lopez allegedly entered the home through an open garage door and waited inside for the homeowner to return with the intent to confront and kill him. Police arrived at the residence before the plan could be carried out, authorities said.
Investigators determined the incident was isolated and said there is no indication of a broader threat to the community.

Dela Cruz Lopez has been charged with attempted murder, a Class M felony, and residential burglary, a Class 1 felony. He was transported to the Kane County Jail pending a detention hearing.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional details were immediately released.
