
After building a customer base in Crystal Lake, the owners of Yumz yogurt shop are set to open a second store in Lake in the Hills.
Owned and operated by John Barnes and Matthew Thelander, the healthy dessert alternative is taking hold in the area, said Barnes.
"It’s a much healthier option," Barnes said of frozen yogurt. "You can eat healthy and still have that indulgence."

Located in the Hollywood Video strip mall at 277 N. Randall Road, Yumz will open this Friday (July 29) with a grand opening celebration planned for July 30 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Star 105.5 will broadcast live with pairs of Taylor Swift concert tickets given away every half hour, he said.

What Will Yumz Offer?
Yumz offers a wide variety of yogurt flavors and toppings. From candy to fruit, "we enable the customer to do it their way,’’ Barnes said.
"It’s totally customized to you. Every week we change something up," Barnes said.
There are 30 yogurt flavors, with 10 available every day, he said.
Open since last November, the Yumz at 5006 Northwest Highway in Crystal Lake has gotten good business, he said.
