Police: More Stolen Cars, Vehicle Burglaries Reported Recently

Authorities are again reminding residents to lock up their cars to prevent future crimes.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — Authorities across McHenry County have been receiving more reports of stolen vehicles and burglaries to vehicles in recent weeks, police said. The Lake in the Hills Police Department is reminding residents to lock their cars, and make sure not to leave their keys inside unattended vehicles, to prevent similar crimes.

Police are also reminding residents to remove any valuables from their car or store these items in your trunk; park in a well-lit location; if you park in a garage, make sure to lock all doors and windows into the garage; and remove garage openers from your vehicle if the opener could allow a burglar to gain access to your home.

Any suspicious activity can be reported to the Lake in the Hills Police Department by dialing 9-1-1.
