Pregnant Woman Killed, 5 Injured In Carpentersville Crash

The two-vehicle collision occurred just before noon on Saturday at Route 25 and Golfview Lane.

A pregnant Carpentersville woman and her unborn child were killed in a two-vehicle collision over the weekend, authorities said. Rocio Hernandez-Balderas, 32, was a passenger in a 2011 Toyota Corolla that was headed east on Golfview Lane when it was struck by a 2005 GMC Yukan, which was northbound on Route 25. Rocio Hernandez-Balderas and four passengers in the Corolla were all extricated from the vehicle and taken to the hospital.

A passenger in the GMC was also taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation and treatment, according to a news release from the Carpentersville Police Department.

Rocio Hernandez-Balderas was pronounced dead Saturday afternoon. As of Monday night, two others involved in the crash remained hospitalized, according to Carpentersville police. Their identifications and conditions were not immediately available.

Rocio was married and the mother to Brandon, Kendya and the late Ethan Andres, according to her obituary. A visitation for the local woman will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Willow Funeral Home, 1415 W. Algonquin Road in Algonquin. A funeral will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home on Saturday.

A funeral procession to Dundee Township Cemetery will follow.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, authorities said.
