Registration Open For Teen Safety Series In LITH

Space is limited for the three-week intensive program aimed at keeping teens safe.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — The Lake in the Hills Police Department will host its teen safety series this spring with officers planning to address stalking, sex assault, bullying and other sensitive topics during the three-week intensive program, authorities said. Sessions will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on April 1, April 8 and April 15 at the Irv Floress Safety Education Center, 1109 Crystal Lake Road, Lake in the Hills and the program is open to males and females ages 12 to 16 years old.

The first session on April 1 will include an informational meeting for parents and guardians only from 6:35 to 8 p.m. at the main floor of the police station, 1115 Crystal Lake Road, Lake in the Hills.

The program addresses current obstacles and challenges that teens face in today’s society including: alcohol and drug effects, vaping, sexual assault, stalking, social media safety, dating
violence, bullying, peer pressure, suicide prevention, and more.

Instruction will be provided by members of the Lake in the Hills Police Department, along with a different guest speakers from the McHenry County Substance Abuse Coalition people sharing their powerful stories of surviving sexual assault and breaking free from gang life.

Space is limited, and pre-registration is required, according to a news release. Priority registration will be given to Lake in the Hills residents; non-residents also welcome. Those interested in registering can do so online.
