This year's triathlon will get underway at 6:30 a.m. on June 16. The goal of the event, which is put on by the LITH Parks and Recreation Department, is to provide a “big city event with a small town atmosphere."
The event includes a .5-mile open water swim, 15.5-mile bike ride and a 4-mile run. Highlights of the race include: a time trial start, which is meant to give every space to swim; assigned bike racks with personalized slots; two transition areas; and pre-race open water swim starting on Wednesday, June 5 at 6 p.m.
