Tire of Getaway Vehicle Blows on I-90, 2 Robbery Suspects Arrested

The two are accused of robbing the Simply Mac store at the CherryVale Mall in Rockford.

A stroke of band luck landed two accused in an armed robbery at Rockford’s CherryVale Mall in jail Friday.

The tire on the robbers’ Jeep Cherokee blew while they were eastbound on Interstate 90 near Route 25 in Elgin, ABC 7 Chicago is reporting. Several state trooper and police vehicles surrounded the area and two were taken into custody.

The armed robbery occurred at the ‘Simply Mac’ store in the CherryVale Mall at about 11 a.m. Friday. Four men were involved in the robbery, according to mystateline.com.

The group entered the Rockford mall’s store with handguns and got away with large number of electronics and cell phones, according to the Rockford Register-Star.

The Jeep blew a tire while authorities were pursuing the vehicle on I-90 and some of the suspects may have fled on foot, according to mystateline.com.

The two who were arrested in connection with the armed robbery were 21-year-old Narcellus Taylor, Jr. from Chicago and 23-year-old Mario J. Anderson from Waukegan, according to WIFR.com.
