Security At Jacobs High School Ramped Up After Rumored Threat
Additional officers were assigned to the school and shelter-in-place protocol was followed out of caution, Algonquin police said.

ALGONQUIN, IL — The Algonquin Police Department received information about a rumored threat of violence against H.D. Jacobs High School early Wednesday morning, police said. The police department worked with Community Unit District 300 and the school to initiate "shelter-in-place" protocol, and additional officers were assigned to the school for security, police said.
The protocol prevents outside access to the school, but allows students to move around freely inside the building.
The police department received the information about the rumored threat at 3:54 a.m., authorities said.
