Several Local Hospitals Ranked as Best in the State
U.S. News and World Report released its annual Best Hospitals rankings on Tuesday.

When it comes to excellent healthcare, several local hospitals have got it covered.
U.S. News and World Report released its annual Best Hospitals rankings issued Tuesday and here is a look at how local hospitals fared:
- Centegra Hospital-McHenry in McHenry tied at No. 11 on the list
- Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington tied at No. 14 on the list
- Advocate Sherman Hospital was tied at No. 19 on the list
- Centegra Hospital-Woodstock was also tied at No. 19 on the list
Illinois has about 220 hospitals. Nine are nationally ranked and 21 others meet national high performing standards.

U.S. News and World Report sifted through data for nearly 5,000 hospitals and results from surveys of more than 140,000 physicians to rank the best centers in 16 adult specialties from cancer to urology, according to the publication. Death rates, patient safety and hospital reputation were a few of factors considered. Only 137 hospitals were nationally ranked in a specialty.
