SLEEPY HOLLOW, IL — A Sleepy Hollow man will go to prison for sexually assaulting a young child he knew. Jose Luis Cruz Francisco, 29, was sentenced to 14.5 years in prison after pleading guilty to predatory criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony, according to prosecutors.

Cruz, of the 900 block of Locust Drive in Sleepy Hollow, is accused of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13 years old on April 24, 2017, according to a news release from the Kane County State's Attorney's Office. The child knew Francisco and the child's mother witnessed the sexual assault and immediately called police, prosecutors said.

“Adults who prey on children, as Mr. Cruz Francisco did, belong in prison," Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon said. "My thanks to this victim’s mother, who didn’t hesitate to call the police when she saw him committing a criminal act with her child."
