Supply Chain Issues Hit Village Coffers
The village of Lake in the Hills is beginning to budget for next year and factoring in an increase in cost for certain goods and materials.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — Pandemic-related supply chain issues are among the items that will be discussed by village officials in Lake in the Hills as they begin to prepare next year's budget.
A significant increase in the cost of road salt as well the climbing prices of chlorine for water treatment, from $42.50 per cylinder to more than $100 per cylinder in the past year, are among the good and materials that will cost more in fiscal year 2022, village officials noted in a memorandum to the Lake in the Hills Village Board.
In addition, the cost of natural gas has more than doubled. Village officials are delaying vehicle purchases wherever possible "to avoid excessive costs and delivery delays," according to a village board packet.
