Three Westfield Students Competing at Punt, Pass & Kick State Championship

Before the start of Sunday's Chicago Bears game, the students will have their names called as they walk onto Soldier Field.

Three students from Algonquin's will be competing in the NFL's Punt, Pass & Kick State Championship this weekend.

Ben Anderson, second grade; Elizebeth Schwartz, fourth grade and Baylee Vincent, fifth grade will compete with a total of 40 students for a chance to advance to the Punt, Pass & Kick national finals on Saturday, Dec. 3, at Halas Hall in Lake Forest.

Only the four first-place team champions from each of the boys and girls divisions of all NFL Team Champions are eligible for advancement to the national finals. Their scores must be in the top four nationally in their respective age groups to qualify.

Korry Belin, the physical education teacher at Westfield, said there never have been three students from Westfield who have competed at the state level simultaneously.

All the participants in Saturday's competition will get to bring a guest to the Bears vs. Kansas City Chiefs game Sunday at Soldier Field. Before the game, each participant’s name will be called by the in-stadium announcer while he or she throws the ball.
