Vacant Brunswick Bowling Alley To House Self-Storage Unit

A self-storage unit, Popeyes restaurant and car wash will all be constructed on the former Brunswick property on the east side of Algonquin.

Demolition and construction started last fall on the self-storage unit; the Popeyes restaurant, which will be located in an out lot at the property, is expected to open in coming months; and construction is expected to start on the car wash in mid-May.

ALGONQUIN, IL — A long-vacant lot along East Algonquin Road — which once housed a Brunswick bowling alley — will soon be home to a climate-controlled self-storage site, a car wash and a new Popeyes restaurant.

The Brunswick site has sat vacant for more than a decade, and the Algonquin Village Board approved plans for the additions at the site, located at 2075 E. Algonquin Road, nearly four years ago. Algonquin Community Development Director Jason Shallcross said the project got delayed due to other projects that took priority over it, according to the Northwest Herald.

Both the car wash and storage unit should be complete by the end of the year.
