Veterans Day Ceremonies In Algonquin, Lake In The Hills

Local events will include poetry readings, flag ceremonies and students singing patriotic songs.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — Veterans Day ceremonies will be held in both Algonquin and Lake in the Hills on Monday, Nov. 12. The first ceremony will begin at 9:15 at Village Hall in Lake in the Hills, and will run until 10 a.m. Then at 10:30 a.m., a flag ceremony will be held at Harnish Main Library in Algonquin.

  • When: 9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Where: Village Hall, 600 Harvest Gate.
  • Who: hosted by the Veterans Memorial Committee; the Colors will be presented by the Lake in the Hills American Legion Post #1231 and Lincoln Prairie Elementary students will be in attendance singing patriotic songs and reading poems.

Algonquin Veterans Flag Ceremony:

  • When: 10:30 a.m.
  • Where: Harnish Main Library, 2600 Harnish Drive
  • Who: hosted by the Algonquin Area Library District; Members of Algonquin-Lake in the Hills American Legion Post 1231 will raise the colors in honor of Veteran’s Day and the National Anthem will be performed. Afterward, enjoy cookies, coffee, and conversation with veterans and community members.
