Village Board Approves Overnight Dog Care

The village board amended a special use permit for The Dog Waggin’ to provide overnight care to dogs at its meeting on Tuesday, March 1.

Since the doggy daycare opened last fall, it has registered more than 50 dogs, said owners Lisa and Mark Harvey.

With the overnight doggy care, they said there would be staffed personnel onsite during the evening and the dogs would not be allowed to go outside from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

The Harveys also said that all of the dogs undergo a personality evaluation to ensure the dogs will be compatible with one another. The overnight room could have up to eight dogs.

The Dog Waggin' is located at 1400 Main Street, in downtown Algonquin.
