The Village previously reissued the face covering requirement for employees on August 2. The reinstatement of the face covering requirement for all visitors to Village facilities comes in response to two members of Village staff testing positive for the COVID-19 virus.
Neither staff member is believed to have had close contact with the public, which the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines as follows: Someone who was within six feet of an infected person for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period starting from two days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, two days prior to test specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated.

McHenry County is currently experiencing substantial transmission. To learn more, view the McHenry County Health Department COVID-19 Dashboard here. The CDC recently recommended that all people wear a face covering in public indoor settings in counties with substantial or high transmission regardless of vaccination status. The revised guidance is available on the CDC website, along with a map tracking transmission levels by county.
McHenry County health officials expect to see continued cases in the coming weeks as the Delta variant, which has a 70% transmission rate, has been identified in the county. Residents are urged to get vaccinated as community transmission remains substantial. The McHenry County Department of Health (MCHD) offers COVID-19 vaccinations at its Woodstock and Crystal Lake clinics on select days (https://bit.ly/3loRewY). For additional vaccine locations, please visit www.vaccines.gov.
As always, the health and safety of the community is the Village’s top priority. The public is strongly encouraged to take all precautions advised by the CDC. The Village of Lake in the Hills will continue to monitor the data and guidelines put out by the CDC, IDPH, and MCDH. Any changes to our policies will be posted on lith.org/coronavirus. For more information, please contact the Administration Department at 847-960-7400 or visit lith.org/contact-us.
