Join us on Thursday, October 28, for our Lights on Afterschool celebration from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Village Hall parking lot! We’ll celebrate the many ways that afterschool programs support students by offering opportunities to learn new things and discover new skills.
Visit 30 activity tables, check out our Beyond the Bell at Lincoln Prairie Elementary student showcase, enjoy parent/child activities, take on the Lights on Afterschool Light Bulb Challenge, and more.

The benefits of quality afterschool programs are clear. They support working families by ensuring that children are safe and productive when the school day ends. Quality programming after school makes our communities stronger by involving students, parents, business leaders, and volunteers. After school programs also give children the opportunity to discover hidden talents as they grow academically and socially.
Our celebration will be one of more than 8,000 sites across the nation and more than 40 sites across Illinois that will send the message that programs offered between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. are fundamental to children’s success and that we must keep the lights on and doors open after school. Parents, media, neighbors, Village employees, school officials, and others have been invited to help us rally support for safe, stimulating programming after school.
Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide event that celebrates afterschool programming and the important role it plays in the lives of children, families, and communities.
