Promoted to Administrative Services Manager at the start of 2020, D’Agostino acted quickly to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic while onboarding many new staff members. Challenges multiplied when he assumed the role of Interim Public Works Director mid-year.

D’Agostino guided capital projects toward completion, including three playground replacements, one skate park replacement, and the Turtle Island Improvement Project, managed community amenities in a pandemic environment, guided the department’s annual budget preparation, and met the needs of his staff while ensuring the continuity of services throughout the shutdown.

“This award is very highly deserved as the depth and complexity of the numerous challenges Peter faced cannot be understated,” said Public Works Director Tom Migatz. “Peter’s leadership, professionalism, and dedication to the organization have proven invaluable, and this recognition at the national level is a great celebration of his sincere commitment to our community.”

D’Agostino was originally recognized by the APWA Fox Valley Branch and later selected to receive the award at the national level. The Village of Lake in the Hills Board of Trustees formally recognized and congratulated D’Agostino at their May 13, 2021 meeting.
