Woods Creek Stabilization Project Open House is This Week

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — Those interested in learning more about a stream bank stabilization project that will get underway soon along Woods Cree in Lake in the Hills can attend a final open house meeting this week at village hall. The meeting will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 27 at village hall, 600 Harvest Gate.

The intent of the Woods Creek Reach 10 Restoration project is to stabilize approximately 1,817 linear feet of Woods Creek and improve the adjacent wetlands back to its native conditions, according to village officials.

The general scope of work required will consist of the removal of non-native vegetation, streambank restoration, tree removal, seeding of native vegetation, installation of toe slope protection and stream bank grading along Woods Creek.

The first of two open house meetings was held on August 22 and the final open house is slated for Aug. 27.
