Children Among The Wounded In I-57 Shooting Near Calumet Park
A 15-year-old boy and 12-year-old boy were among the wounded in I-57 shooting on Monday afternoon.

CALUMET PARK, IL -- A 15-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy were among the victims wounded in a car following a shooting Monday afternoon on I-57. A 38-year-old man is in critical condition. They were shot while riding in a vehicle near the 127th Street exit in south suburban Calumet Park.
Another child in the car, an 8-year-old girl, was not wounded but taken to an area hospital where she was stabilized. The boys are also apparently in stable condition, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The events leading up to the shooting remain under investigation, police said in a statement.

Several hours later, a female postal worker was shot and killed on I-57 near Oak Forest around 10 p.m. in the inbound lanes on the interstate near Cicero Avenue.
Police said the car was traveling northbound just after 4 p.m. when the shooting occurred. The vehicle carrying the wounded was able to exit the expressway off the 127th Street exit. The shooting shut down the I-57 northbound lanes from 127th Street to 147th Street/Sibley Boulevard during the afternoon rush and reopened around 8:15 p.m.
