Alsip, Crestwood Cooling Centers Open As 105 Heat Index Returns
Here's some information to survive the excessive heat, including Alsip and Crestwood cooling centers and where to report a power outage.
ALSIP-CRESTWOOD, IL — As peak heat index values above 105 degrees are possible on Sunday and Monday, residents are reminded that cooling centers are available in Alsip and Crestwood if needed.
The National Weather Service has issued an elevated excessive heat risk for the area. Residents are advised to take extra precautions and stay on top of weather-related conditions as temperatures are expected to reach dangerous levels during the weekend and into next week.
The combination of high temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat-related illnesses are possible. Expect afternoon highs in the mid to up 90s and low 80s in the evening.

Check on elderly and disabled family and friends and neighbors. Have plenty of water on hand for your pets and keep them inside or in a shaded shelter. Call 911 if you think someone needs a well-being check and you can’t get there yourself, or if you see someone struggling on the street.
