Alsip, Crestwood Open Cooling Centers As Temperatures Soar

ALSIP-CRESTWOOD, IL — Alsip and Crestwood police remind residents to take extra precautions and stay on top of weather-related conditions during the week as temperatures are expected to reach dangerous levels this week.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning in effect through Wednesday evening. Temperatures are expected to climb to 100 degrees. Heat index values up to 115 are possible on Wednesday.

The combination of high temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat-related illnesses are possible. Expect afternoon highs in the mid to up 90s and low 80s in the evening.

Check on elderly and disabled family and friends and neighbors. Have plenty of water on hand for your pets and keep them inside or in a shaded shelter. Call 911 if you think someone needs a well-being check and you can’t get there yourself, or if you see someone struggling on the street.
