Alsip-Crestwood School Districts Announce E-Learning Friday Ahead Of Extreme Cold

ALSIP-CRESTWOOD, IL — With wind chills expected to dip below -35 degrees before zero on Friday, school districts are starting to call remote learning and/or delayed openings in advance of the Arctic chill descending upon the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service.

The dangerous cold begins Thursday night into Friday morning, and bitter cold will continue through the weekend, the weather service said.

Patch will be updating this list throughout the day as closures roll in for schools, colleges, daycare, religious, business and government offices, for Friday, Jan. 23:

- Atwood Heights School District 125 - e-learning for Hamlin Upper Grade Center (Alsip), Meadow Lane School (Merrionette Park) and Lawn Manor (Oak Lawn).

- Cook County School Dist. 130 - e-learning

- CHSD 218 (Richards, Shepard, Eisenhower) - closed, e-learning; All after-school home athletic events and activities have been canceled for Tuesday.

Colleges
Trinity Christian College - closed
Saint Xavier University - all colleges closed, e-learning

Government
IL Sec’y of State Senior Centers (Bridgeview, Calumet Park, Westchester, Evanston) - closed
Palos Heights Public Library - closed
