Alsip Fire Department Hosts Open House With Hoses And Helicopters

The fire department is hosting a day of kid-friendly fire related fun on Saturday.

ALSIP, IL — Have you ever wanted to drive a fire engine? Or even if you’re not feeling so adventurous, simply enter a raffle to have breakfast at the Alsip Firehouse?

If so, you might enjoy the Alsip Fire Department’s open house this Saturday. From 1 to 3:30 p.m. at Firehouse #2 on 11946 S. Laramie Ave., the fire department is hosting a free open house. The open house will be packed with kid-friendly fun, including a bounce house, train rides, snacks, giveaways, and the raffle to have breakfast at the firehouse. Kids will also have the opportunity to slide down a fire pole, spray a fire hose, see an air med helicopter, and drive a mini-fire engine. Firefighters will also demonstrate “side by side burns”, which demonstrate how quickly a fire is extinguished in a home with sprinklers as opposed to a home without them.

For more information, visit the Alsip Fire Department’s Facebook page, or call the Alsip Fire Department at 708-385-6902.
