Firefighters Battle '400 Yards Of Brush Fire'
An intense brush fire broke out Saturday Ave at 119th Street and Kostner Avenue.
ALSIP, IL—If you were looking up at the sky Saturday before sunset and saw black smoke billowing in the air, the Alsip Fire Department and other nearby agencies were fighting a brush fire at 119th Street and Kostner Avenue.
Firefighters arrived to find a dense brush area with 400 yards of fire. A box alarm was requested, and companies set up on sides with handlines and deck guns while also setting up their tower ladder. Companies worked for hours until the fire was finally extinguished.
Assisting agencies included Robbins, Palos, Garden Homes, Merrionette Park, Oak Lawn, Palos, Roberts Park, Markham, Posen and Orland.
