Alsip Parks And SWSRA Host Job Fair For Summer Camp Counselors

Alsip Parks and South West Special Recreation Association are teaming up to host a job fair March 26 for summer camp counselor positions.

ALSIP, IL -- The South West Special Recreation Association and the Alsip Park District will co-host a job fair on March 26. Two sessions will be held at 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at the Apollo Recreation Center, 12521 S. Kostner Ave., Alsip. The two organizations are looking summer camp counselors age 18 and older.

SWSRA has openings for individuals with fun, energetic attitudes to be a counselor for the organization’s therapeutic day camp for persons with special needs. This is a seasonal position for June until early August.

  • Full-day counselor, 28-35 hours weekly
  • Half-day counselor, 15-20 hours weekly
  • Pay rate: starts at minimum wage/hour, increases based on experience

The special recreation cooperative serves the communities of Alsip, Blue Island, Justice, Merrionette Park, Midlothian, Palos Heights, Posen and Summit. SWSRA offers a wide variety of programs, including sports (including participation in Special Olympics Illinois), special events, trips and summer camps. Participants of SWSRA not only have fun, but also make friends, increase physical activity, enjoy new experiences and refine their social and life skills.

The Alsip Park District is also hiring summer camp counselors for the 2019 season. Applicants must be at least 18 and display responsibility, leadership, creativity and had good communication skills. Applications must be submitted and returned by April 30 to the Apollo Recreation Center

Mandatory training for camp counselors will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., June 3 through June 5, which includes CRP/AED and First Aid training.
