Alsip Police Hiring Entry-Level Law Enforcement Officers
Alsip Police are hiring entry level officers and establishing an eligibility list for future hiring. Application deadline is Dec. 20, 2017.

ALSIP, IL -- If you aspire to a career in law enforcement, the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of Alsip is now accepting applications for entry-level law enforcement officers. Applications are available on Job Source and will be accepted through Dec. 20, 2017. Two openings are available.
The Alsip Police Department strives for excellence in law enforcement and to keep residents and businesses safe. Testing is being conducted for new hires and to establish an eligibility list for anticipated future hiring needs. The starting salary for entry-level law enforcement officers is $50,000. Alsip has 42 sworn officers and serves a population of 19,200.

It is highly recommended that applications be dropped off in person before 4 p.m. Dec. 20, 2017.
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Driver's License: Must possess a valid Driver's License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver's License upon time of hire.
- Age requirements: Applicants must be under the age of 35 years old at the last date of the filing application (Dec. 20, 2017), and at such time as the final eligibility list is posted, unless exempt by IL State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6, which provides in part that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a Certified (full-time) Law Enforcement Officer. Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications (Dec. 20, 2017).
- Education: Must have proof of high school diploma, GED certificate or high school proficiency statement AND must have at least 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university.
- Residence: Must reside in one of the following counties, Cook, Will, DuPage or Kendall following the 18-month probationary period.
- Testing: Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing.
- P.O.W.E.R. Card: Must possess a valid P.O.W.E.R. (Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report) Card from a certified testing agency, which MUST be issued between the dates of Dec. 20, 2016 and Dec. 20, 2017.
- P.O.W.E.R. There is a $45 non-refundable application fee. Applications are NOT available at the Alsip Police Department or Village Hall.
- Mandatory Orientation: Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018. Registration starts at 8 a.m.; orientation starts at 8:30 a.m..
- Location for both the orientation and the written exam: Prairie Junior High School, 11910 S. Kostner Ave., Alsip, IL.
- A test-taking technique class will be available at 7 p.m. Jan. 3, 2018 at the office of C.O.P.S. and F.I.R.E. Personnel Testing Service, 200 W. Higgins Road, Suite 201, Schaumburg, IL. The cost of the class is $25. Call 847-310-2677 to make a reservation.
Applicants must attend the mandatory orientation and test date:
- Written Examination: Immediately following the orientation on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018.
