Alsip Police Nab Car Burglar and Pal: Cops

With unlocked vehicle thefts on the rise, police warn residents to remember to lock their cars.

ALSIP, IL -- Alsip police are reminding residents -- again -- to lock their cars after two men were arrested allegedly trying to enter vehicles. Both were arrested early Thursday morning in the 12000 block of Lockwood Avenue, police said.

Officers responded to the area just before 3 a.m. after receiving complaints of suspicious persons trying to enter vehicles, reports said. Jamaree Graham, 23, of Chicago, was found allegedly inside an unlocked vehicle. Police determined that the vehicle had been entered illegally and Graham was charged with criminal trespassing. Officers also stopped was Raheym Spells, 22, of Mongtomery. Spells, an acquaintance of Graham, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Shaking door handles and burglarizing unlocked vehicles is an easy crime and one that is on the rise in the country. In addition to locking doors at all time, motorists shouldn’t leave valuables that might attract thieves inside their vehicles.
