Nicor Gas Community Connection Resource Fair Brings Vital Support and Services to Alsip Residents

Community members in Alsip connected with vital support services during the Nicor Gas Community Connection Resource Fair, an event focused on helping local families access essential resources and assistance programs.

Nicor Gas collaborated with Illinois State Representative Rick Ryan, Cook County Commissioner Dr. Kisha McCaskill, the Village of Alsip and several community organizations to bring together services designed to support households across the community. More than 200 households received free groceries and information about programs available to help meet everyday needs.

Attendees had the opportunity to speak directly with representatives from a wide range of organizations, including The Salvation Army, Cook County Health, the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs and the American Red Cross. Participating organizations shared information on health and wellness services, veterans resources, financial and energy assistance programs, career development opportunities, energy-saving tips and natural gas safety education.

The event highlighted the importance of strong community partnerships and collaboration in connecting residents with meaningful support and services. By bringing multiple organizations together in one location, the resource fair created an accessible space for residents to learn about available programs and receive assistance tailored to their needs.
