Arctic Cold To Freeze Alsip-Crestwood: Where To Find Warming Centers
Dangerously cold weather is set to chill the Chicagoland. Here's where you can escape the chill in Alsip and Crestwood.
ALSIP-CRESTWOOD, IL – Arctic cold will hit the Chicagoland starting Thursday night, according to forecasters, with lows dropping below zero in some areas.
Extreme cold will move into the Chicago region during the overnight hours Thursday into Friday, bringing dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 to 35 below zero expected. The National Weather Service has issued an “extreme cold warning” in effect from 3 a.m. to noon Friday, with a cold weather advisory in effect for the rest of the weekend.
Check on your elderly neighbors and loved ones. Keep your pets indoors as much as possible and layer up. If you see someone struggling in the street, call 911.

The following warming centers will be open in the Alsip-Crestwood area if you need to get out of the cold, or just want to stop burning money in your furnace for a few hours.

a warming center, 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday though Thursday, and
5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. Call 911 if you need assistance in the cold.
Andrew Biela Senior Center
4545 Midlothian Turnpike, Crestwood
The senior center will be available as
a warming center during regular
business hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.,
Tuesday through Friday.

Cook County Warming Centers
Cook County warming centers will provide water and snacks, as well as access to restrooms. Residents can bring pets in cages or carriers.
