Bar Patron Driving In Circles Nabbed For Opioids: Cops

Cops find opioids in Chicago woman's purse after she was reported to be driving in circles in Bar 122's parking lot, prosecutor said.

ALSIP, IL -- A Chicago woman driving in circles around an Alsip bar’s parking lot was arrested after police found opioids in her purse, prosecutors said. Ashley Van Waard, 33, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Van Waard is also charged with traffic violations.

Around 3:09 a.m. June 7, Alsip police responded to disturbance at Bar 122 at 122nd Street and Pulaski Road. When officers arrived, a woman, later identified as Van Waard, was allegedly riving her Jeep Cherokee in circles around the bar’s parking lot. Police reportedly found 33 hydrocodone pills in Van Waard’s purse, the prosecutor said.

Van Waard has no prior arrests. She was released on a $25,000 I-bond. Van Waard’s next court date is June 25.
