Better Watch Out, Krampus Market Coming Sunday To Blue Island Beer Co.

BLUE ISLAND, IL — Blue Island Beer Company is partnering with the Streetz Artz Alliance for the highly anticipated third annual Krampus Market 2023. Held indoors at Blue Island Beer Company, 13357 Old Western Ave, Blue Island, this event promises a fusion of creativity, local artistry, and an eclectic blend of craft beverages.

From cute to dark, there’s something for everyone at Krampus Market in Blue Island this Sunday, Dec. 10, featuring local artists and makers that share their passions and creativity in items they make.

The Krampus is a horned, anthropomorphic figure in the Central and Eastern Alpine folklore of Europe who, during the Advent season, scares children into being nice, either by whipping them with birch branches. Sometimes he kidnaps misbehaving children and eats them. The antithesis of St. Nicholas Krampus markets have grown in popularity in recent years.

The market is brilliantly curated by John Streetz of Streetz Artz Alliance and features two dozen local artists from macabre to geeky, as well as two tarot readers. There will be a variety of Krampus related items, as well as other original art, from adorable to mysterious.

One of the highlights of Krampus Market 2023 will be the appearance of Jennifer Benson, renowned for her portrayal of Krampus. As a veteran stage performer and professionally trained singer, Benson plans an even more captivating portrayal for this year's event.

"This year's Krampus Market is shaping up to be our best yet, with over 1600 individuals already expressing interest," said Streetz, head of the Streetz Artz Alliance. "We're thrilled to introduce sixteen new artists to the venue, doubling last year's excitement."

Adding to the festive atmosphere, Quinncakes by George returns with an assortment of delectable breads and focaccia, including classic white, chocolate loaf, jalapeno cheddar, and garlic herb parmesan focaccia.

Craft beer enthusiasts will find a delightful selection of Blue Island Beer Company's popular brews like 5 Bridges, Hard Luck, Massive Political Corruption, and ZAP! Lager. Additionally, the company now offers draft cocktails, blending house-made sodas with spirits, juices, and botanicals for a unique Southside beverage experience.

Local artisan Adara Selene Creations unveils an exclusive "Merry Krampus" shirt designed specifically for this event, expressing excitement for Krampus Market 2023 as one of the year's standout gatherings.
