Blue Island Man Faces Murder Charge In Robbins Shooting
Blue Island man claimed Robbins man had burglarized his truck, Cook County Sheriff's police said.

ROBBINS, IL -- A Blue Island man is accused of shooting a Robbins man to death last Thursday. Rodney Knockum, 60, is charged with first-degree murder. Knockum was expected to appear for a bond hearing Sunday at the Leighton Criminal Courts Building, police said in a news release.
Around 9:30 p.m. Oct. 11, Cook County Sheriff investigators were called by Robbins police to investigate a shooting with an unresponsive victim in the 13400 block of Ridgeway Avenue. Police found Eddie Appleton, 42, with multiple gunshot wounds in his upper body. Appleton was later pronounced deceased at Advocate Christ Medical Center. Knockum was arrested on Oct. 12, and charged on Oct. 13 with murder.
Just before the shooting police said that Knockum had come looking for Appleton armed with a handgun. Knockum allegedly told police that Appleton had burglarized his truck.
