Children Of Crestwood Man Senselessly Slain Start GoFundMe For Funeral
David Swick was gunned down in a South Side restaurant Oct. 7. His children are trying to raise money to give their dad a proper burial.
CRESTWOOD, IL — The family of a Crestwood man who was senselessly gunned down in a South Side fast food restaurant has started a GoFundMe campaign so they can give their father a proper burial.
Dave Swick, 56, was shot Oct. 7 by an employee at JJ Fish & Chicken, 7828 S. Western Ave., Chicago, police said. Another customer seated in the restaurant’s dining area, Paul Williams, 55, was also gunned down. Both men died on the scene.

The restaurant’s cashier, Mehdi Medellel, 42, has been charged with two felony counts of first-degree murder. Medellel allegedly got into an argument with both men before the double shooting.
Although Swick was homeless, his daughter, Breanna, said “someone from our family was in touch with him everyday." Now they are faced with the sad task of trying to raise money for a funeral.

“Unfortunately after the amount of loss we've dealt with this year, we are not in a position to properly bury our father,” Swick’s daughter said.
