Christmas Without Cancer Featured On Frontier League All-Star Jersey

CRESTWOOD, IL — The Windy City ThunderBolts have designated Christmas Without Cancer as the non-profit to be represented at the 2023 Frontier League All-Star game, July 12 at Ozinga Field in Crestwood.

The All-Star Game will pit the Frontier League’s East Division against the West Division. Each team will be playing to raise money for a local non-profit organization. The winning team’s non-profit will receive a $3,000 donation, while the losing team’s will receive a contribution of $1,000.
Christmas Without Cancer has been selected as the East Division team’s represented non-profit.

Votes were cast from the eight East Division ball clubs. The East Division will be wearing special jerseys during the July 12 All-Star game that feature the Christmas Without Cancer logo. Fans can now purchase their own Christmas Without Cancer East Division jersey with half of the proceeds going to the organization. Other participating non-profits and jerseys will be announced in the next few weeks.

Christmas Without Cancer was founded in Evergreen Park iby an oncology nurse in 2003. The organization endeavors to provide gifts and necessities to Chicago-area families who have members stricken with cancer.

Over the past two decades, the organization has identified thousands of Southland families in need and supplied them with gift cards for groceries, medications, gas and other “need” items around the during the holidays and throughout the year.

“Our organization is honored to be a part of the All Star game, and we look forward to seeing our CWC families and supporters pack the stands for this ultimate summer event,” CWC Vice President Renee Copeland said in a news release.

In recent years, thanks to generous donations and successful fundraisers, Christmas Without Cancer has expanded to provide relief to families affected by cancer year-round.

The Frontier League All-Star Game begins at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 12. Gates will open at 4 p.m. to give fans the chance to watch batting practice and meet the all-stars on the field. The game will be followed by a special fireworks show.
