Crestwood Celebrates July 4th With Wacky Lawn Mower Parade: VIDEO

Crestwood puts it own stamp of individuality on July 4th in annual Lawn Mower Parade.

CRESTWOOD, IL -- Like many Independence Day celebrations taking place in communities across the nation, Crestwood put its own stamp of individuality on July 4th with the annual Lawn Mower Parade. Mayor Lou Presta said the lawn mower parade harkens back to Crestwood’s roots as a farming community. Local farmers would gather their tractors and riding mowers on the Fourth of July for a parade around the neighborhood.

While ATVs, mini-bikes and even a SUV pulling a speed boat were well represented in Crestwood's July 4th celebration, there were still plenty of purists riding lawn mowers down Kildare Avenue. The best thing about the parade is that it only lasted five minutes.
