IDOT Announces Cal Sag Bridge Repairs At 127th Street

Lane closures will go into effect May 21, weather permitting, for bridge repairs at 127th Street, west of Cicero Avenue.

ALSIP, IL -- The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) that bridge repairs will take place on the structure that carries 127th Street (Illinois 83) over the Cal Sag Channel, located just west of Cicero Avenue, in Alsip, beginning, weather permitting, Monday, May 21. The bridge repairs are expected to last four weeks, with all lanes reopening in mid-June.

In order to complete the bridge repairs, a lane closure will take place on the bridge that carries 127th Street over the Cal Sag Channel. Work will begin in the eastbound direction and switch to the westbound direction.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
