Let Crestwood PD Protect Your Holiday Packages From Plunderers

Don't risk having your holiday package deliveries swiped off your porch. Ship them to the Crestwood Police Department through Dec. 22.

CRESTWOOD, IL — The Crestwood Police Department want to “pinch the Grinch” this holiday season by taking care of your holiday package deliveries, so they don’t get swiped from your front porch or step.

With coronavirus on the rise, residents will probably be doing more holiday shopping online. That means packages being delivered to residents' homes and thieves trolling the neighborhoods.

The village wants to help prevent package thefts during this already stressful time. Residents can ensure secure delivery of packages by shipping them to the Crestwood Police Department and have one less thing to worry about.

Packages must be picked up within three days of arrival at the Crestwood police station through Dec. 22, with Dec. 23 the last day to pick up deliveries. Packages must be under 50 pounds. The name of the person picking up the package must match the name on the mailing label. There is no charge for this service. Face masks are required.

If you purchased gifts on Craigslist, E-Bay or other exchange websites, you can make the transaction in the safety exchange zone in the police station lobby or public parking lot. (This service is available year-round.)

Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Items needed to pick up packages:

1. Government-issued identification card
2. Order/shipment proof of receipt.
3. For parents picking-up packages addressed to their children, parent must provide proof of guardianship and/or the child’s identification
4. Face Coverings are required for package pick-ups.
