BLUE ISLAND, IL—Blue Island resident Olubukola Onimole, a senior at Marist High School, was recently awarded the Western Golf Association’s Chick Evans Scholarship, a full four-year housing and tuition scholarship for golf caddies, and the nation’s largest privately funded scholarship program.

Onimole earned the scholarship by meeting its four selection criteria: a strong caddie record, excellent academics, demonstrated financial need, and outstanding character. The full tuition and housing college scholarship is valued at an estimated $125,000 over four years.

The Marist senior is one of 104 students in the Chicago area to receive the prestigious Evans Scholarship this year.

“When I found out I got the Evans scholarship, I was shocked,” said Onimole, who plans to study medicine. “Getting the Evans has always been a dream since I started caddying, but it always felt like a distant dream. Now it has come through, and I am just so thankful for everyone who has supported me.”
